WhyNotWin11, re-distributed

Why a PC is not ready for Windows 11, in the reader's own language.

WhyNotWin11 is an open-source script that tells you why a PC is not ready for Windows 11. I made a new edition based on version 2.3.1, mostly about languages: pick one from a list, or apply your own based on the system locale.

// what-it-does

What it does

The original does the detection. My edition changed how people read it.

WhyNotWin11 checks the hardware and settings Windows 11 asks for and shows which ones fail. The original project is someone else's; this is my re-distribution of it, with the changes below.

For users

  • Choose the language from a list
  • Apply a custom language that matches your system locale
  • A slightly changed interface, with a larger font
  • The whole window can be dragged

For developers

  • _GUICtrlSetDataEx sets a control's text and colour at once, and picks a colour from the text
  • A restart feature, called with _ScriptRestart
  • Full right-to-left and left-to-right support: add RTL=true to a language's metadata
  • The exit button reads × instead of X
  • My logo added to the resources

// how-it-was-built

How it was built

AutoIt, like the original.

The changes sit on top of the 2.3.1 source, so the detection logic is the original project's.

Status

Archived. The fork stays on GitHub as it was; the original project carried on without it.
