Windows 11 Show Desktop, with drag and drop
Drag a file to the corner, the desktop opens, drop it there.
In Windows 11, dragging a file onto the Show Desktop button does nothing. This tool watches that corner: hold a mouse button there and, after about 0.7 seconds, it shows the desktop so you can drop onto it.
// what-it-does
What it does
Why dragging to Show Desktop stopped working in Windows 11, I do not know either. So I made it work.
While the app runs, it waits for a mouse button to be held down in the Show Desktop area of the taskbar. When that happens it shows the desktop, so you can release and drop the file where you meant to.
Using it
- Its icon sits in the tray while it runs
- Wait about 0.7 seconds in the corner and the desktop appears
- To start it with Windows, copy it to the startup folder: Win+R, then
shell:startup
